I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.

I realize that the name of this blog may be a little confusing for some "less cultured" readers. So I'll explain how this name came to be.

I was trying to think of a blog title, and couldn't think of anything so I typed in google "blog title generator". I clicked on a page which asked me to enter the subject of my blog, I typed in "BYU study abroad Jerusalem". The name that my blog would have been given had I chosen to go with this suggestion would be Why BYU study abroad in Jerusalem is part of the gay agenda. I didn't really think this title fit the purpose of my blog, so I scrapped that.

Then I got distracted watching Airplane! on TV and the title just jumped at me when Robert Hays says to Leslie Nielson "Surely you can't be serious!" and the doctor says back "I am serious and don't call me Shirley."

Listed as #79 on AFI's top 100 movie quotes of all time, and one that is quoted often by my mail opening dad, I thought it would be a suitable name. Plus, anything that is quoted by Steve Carell, my dad and on the top movie quotes list, has got to have something going for it.

I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.
